hi am about to buy a 86 camaro with a 350sb and i need to know what would the gas mileage be like?
its an 350sb wit big valve mild ported heads, elderbrock intake with 650 elderbrock carb HEI distributor with and advanced curve kit. it has a new cam and lifters from comp cam new double roller timeing chain from zoom new hooker headers from jegs with complete flowmaster exhaust. it also has an 700r4 trans with an B&M shift kit and an new 3:42 rear end car Does that mean it has posi traction
a 3:42 rear gear is simply the ratio...does not mean its a positive traction assembly...but it could be..open it up to be sure... might even be a posi-lock assmy...but as far as gas mileage is concerned...impossible to estimate....big valve,s?...how big?...custom intake?...which one?...650 carburetor?...with what jet,s,air filter,etc....new cam?...with what lift &duration? solid or hydraulic or roller cam &lifter,s etc. ...custom exhaust? ...again..not enough information....same with trans. simply way too many variables to even give you a fuel consumption estimate....but my wild guess would be very low.....best of luck...with gas price,s the way they are ...your going to need it!,,,,,EDIT....as long as all the other answers are giving you an estimate.I may as well to...I'm going to guess ...somewhere between 8 to 9....but it,s only a guess.....best of luck!
