No. Most stock air intake draw air from an opening in the radiator core support. This is air from outside the engine compartment so it is already cool.
A cold air intake can NOT cool the air any more than the ambient outside air temperature. So don't expect any real gains from the cold air. With a V8, you can expect about 1 horsepower for every 10 degrees drop in air temperature. Less gain with 4 and 6 bangers.
Did you know that all late model gas vehicles are equipped with a EGR valve to meet EPA emissions standards. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Guess what this does. It recirculates a certain amount of the HOT engine exhaust back into the intake manifold. A cold air intake can NOT make any difference cooling this HOT exhaust gas. The engines are tuned to run with this exhaust gas so bypassing the EGR valve can do more harm than good. You could even destroy your engine unless you really know what you are doing.
