Do I have a cracked block? Expert Mechanic's advice needed!?
I have a fresh Ford 302 installed in my mustang. The radiator hoses are swelling, and don't go back to normal until the radiator cap is released. Also, the radiator is overflowing when I let the car idle without the cap on. The upper radiator hose has come off twice (from the pressure?) while driving at slow cruising speed.
BTW - no coolant in the oil, no smoke in exhaust, not overheating, no oil in coolant.
New everything, cap (13 lbs), thermastat (changed twice), new aluminum radiator, water pump, head gaskets new and not installed backwards (already checked), new hoses (replaced twice). New heads, fresh block.
My friend says it may be a small crack in the block that is allowing combustion gas to enter the coolant.
How about your heater core ? Are you getting circulation ? Mustangs had problems with heater cores. just a thought !! Is there a cable operated inline valve in your heater hoses ?? bypass them if there are. good luck !!
