I have a 1981 chevy C-10 with a 355 sbc. Its a four bolt main block with a slightly improved bottom end. it also has a fully rollerized valve train, aluminum dual plain intake, small tube full length headers, HEI elec. ignition with 50,000 volt coil & ignition module good to 7,000 RPM, and lastly a set of those good ole "Double Humps" capping off the cylinders. Anyway back to business, i just bought this Holley 670 Dual Line Street Avenger carb, ive tried to set the float level but no matter how much i screw the nuts down the fuel level doesn't seem to change much. Its parked on relatively level ground. so i don't know what the problem might be. since this is the first step to do i cant tune anything else. I was wondering if the choke might have something to do with it since i haven't hooked it up yet (ran out of daylight). Thanks for any help you all can offer.
if you have an electric fuel pump on it try setting it with the fuel pump running that will force the float to change settings,if your running a stock fuel pump try setting it with the engine running,that's how i had to set my car when i switched engines in it,this way you,ll get an accurate setting on the float,its the best known method for setting a holley carburetor that i know of,good luck.
