Help with a young adult's book set in the South on a plantation? Sorry vague.?
Ok I know this is vague, but I'm trying to think of a book (I think YA Fic) from the 1990s. It's about a girl whose family moves to a plantation in the South. I think her mother is dead. She befriends another girl (I think) and they encounter some sort of ghost in the garden.
Ring a bell at all? I might be getting a detail wrong

When Rebecca Brown lands in New Orleans, she realizes that she is a long, long way from her Central Park West apartment in New York City.
