Brake Line Corrosion and Leakage?

I brought my car for a check up at the dealership back in November and at the time, there was no mention of any issues with the car. The invoice referred to brake line check at the time. In March, I noticed my brakes were not working so well so I took it in to get it checked and was informed that my brake line was corroded and leaking and therefore it would cost $1200 for it to be replaced...now, is this something that they should have noted back in November if the invoice indicated the brake line was checked? In other words, can a brake line corrode in a span of 4 months to the point it needs to be replaced? Considering that they were advising that I should not drive it off the lot since it was too dangerous, I wonder if this isn't something they should have caught back in November. Otherwise what is the point in getting the car checked in the first place?

depending on what they check at the dealer really and no if i had been check ing a car i would have look for other things most places have a list of things to check and like most places ive work brake lines are not a common thing that goes bad in a cars life span... and for 1200 bucks i think id go else where sounds way to high even to replace all the lines even with labor... you never take a car that not new to a dealer first place to not go unless you cant find anyone to do the work most of the time they dont know jack really and .. when you say check up what do you think they do it could be many thing or just a few you was having a brake problem so they check brakes if you was not having a problem you got a service job like oil and filters and or tuneup there is a big differents brake line check is like look at the rubber hoses they would not have any i deal of a line failure and really you dont say what kind or how old and im not trying to defend anyone but really a check is just that and some are better than others but id still want another opinon on that price so try this call a few place and ask how much to replace all the brake lines on your type of car then you will know if your getting screw or not i dont htink it sound like the first place did you wrong but they are a dealer never a good place to go if you dont have a brand new car it would be the last place to have work done.. i think the price is way to high for what they going to do
