would deleting the catalytic converters on my trucks' exhaust be beneficial in any way, or would it mess with the running and operation of my engine? i don't know if it's even legal to do, but a few weeks ago, i asked what would be the best exhaust setup for my truck, and a user said that getting longtube headers and dumping my cats was an option... with my 2001 chevy silverado 2500HD 6.0l, i'm wondering what exactly would happen if i were to delete my cats? would i get any performance gains, or would the running and operation of my engine be messed up?
sorry guys, i forgot to mention that i live in Georgia. and i haven't had emissions done because my truck is exempt since it's classified as a work truck. it's the 6.0l V8, single cab long bed, and weighs around 5,000 lbs. i just have an intake system and glasspacks for the major mods. then i have aftermarket plugs and wires for the simple stuff. yes, still very heavy and slow, but kinda quick for a truck i think 
just redo your whole exhaust and buy the mid pipe w/o cats. It wouldn't really gain much.
