Have an 87 f150. Introduced a vacuum leak by pulling the hose going to the Brake Booster. The engine immediately sped up and started running better.
I've check the low pressure and high pressure fuel pump and they work fine. Could it be the Fuel Pressure Regulator giving the engine too much fuel? Is there any way to test the FPR out in-order to know?
The engine spots a leak so it has to compensate by making more power. It's not all that good, you'll lose gas mileage and won't be reliable to drive around.
