oil pump went out and spun the bearings on the front connecting rods. they are scratched up, i dont think it will be safe to put new bearings in them. theyll just spin again wont they? i told him he should buy new rods but hes tight on cash and just want to replace the bad ones rather than buying the entire set. would it mess up the balance of the engine using two after market rods with the stock rods. no one sells the stock ones.
he already bought a new crank, he had me helping him assembling it and i looked at the rods and they are a little messed up, i told him to buy an entire bottom end kit after trying to tell him just get a 350.
have the two rods along with the other 6 resized at a machine shop while replacing the crank or having it reground or, if he's lucky, just polished.
a reman crank for a 305 is cheap and comes with bearings.
do it right or fix it again in a month.
