what is chevy and dodge going to do next for the new muscle cars?
i have been a muscle car fun for a long time ... the mustang GT just came out with a new 5.0 liter v8 for 2011 and its faster than the new chevy camaro ss, the new dodge challenger and the new BMW M3!... and the muctang has less horsepower than all these cars?
i just want to know what is chevy and dodge going to do so that they can catch up to the new mustang GT?.... are they going to add more horse powers to there cars or are they going to make there cars a little lighter?
It depends on what the marketing staff finds out.
Some believe that a muscle car needs to be big, and others think it needs to be fast. Most car buyers never get deeper the how it looks and are the colors pretty. If there are enough buyers for the bigger and slower cars like the Camaro and Challenger, there will be no change in the platform. With emissions and CAFE standards horsepower is not that viable.
The smart move performance wise is to reduce weight by shrinking the cars. The cheap move is a "limited" edition with more power. But Chevrolet and Dodge already tried that way once and it did not work. I believe that it was "Car and Driver" that made the comment about how the Camaro SS was faster (in days of yore) then the Mustang 5.0 but the problem was finding one! Any one with enough money could find a Ford Mustang 5.0 on a dealers lot, however finding a SS was impossible because most were sold even before reaching the dealer. So most drivers wanting a V-8 went to Ford because they could get a V-8 there, but a the competitors it was wait or settle for less. So if they go that way (Dodge and Chevrolet) history will no doubt repeat it's self.
