Do I need to have a Fireplace Valve Cover attached?
I have a gas fireplace connection which had a chrome cover on it. I installed some tiles now that cover does not fit over the actual gas connection. Do I need to have that cover over the gas connection or can I leave it off? Is that chrome piece just for decor?

You can leave it off as long as the "key" still fits in to shut off the gas in an emergency. Leaving the "key" in place is always a good idea so you know where it is and is visible.GL
