blows out hot air, fan on unit is not moving, not that old of a unit. Always put out exceptionally cool air...now blows warm air any ideas?
The unit was working great, cycled on and off all weekend, house really cool, then last night my husband said, the air coming out the register by his chair was not cool. He went out to check the unit, the whole cover felt hot and smelled like burning rubber. So we turned everything off. We checked the breakers...The fan inside the metal box was not spinning.
The indoor unit blower moves air through a cooling coil within the indoor unit.
Without the outdoor unit running it will not do any cooling.
Check the breakers or fuses if the outdoor unit is not running at all.
The first sentence of your question indicates that the outdoor unit is not running.
It may be that there is no power to that unit since the indoor unit and the outdoor unit have separate power supplies.
The indoor unit supplies low voltage power to the thermostat to operate the controls.
Edit: after your additional comments I would say the outdoor unit fan motor is failing. Have a tech check this out to avoid further damage to the unit.
