Can anyone give me some pointers or solutions to help start my boat's engine? Its been neglected for months...?
I have a 223hp mercruiser V-6 vortex I/O engine....it was dry docked for approx 9 months. Over that time it was subject to some elements (a few t storms, but mostly dry weather) that blew the boat cover off but never disturbed the engine compartment....I had to replace the battery, and added new fuel. all the appropriate fluid levels are to spec...problem is the boat wont turn over...Prior to last August when I docked the the boat, it turned over instantly, time and time again. I put some muffs w/ water on the lower unit, but that does not seem to be the problem....I can hear the fuel pump and all the elecs. seem to be in order. Is it just that its been a while between starts? can I choke the carb in order to shock the engine back to life like an automobile? It sounds like any sat motor that needs a good blast of quick start, but I am limited in marine engines (none.) Any help would be most appreciated!
Your question is not very clear. Why would you wont to choke it if it wont turn over. If the engine cranks over but does not start Give it a shot of starting fluid in the intake.
