I have a 2 ohm KICKER 12" L5 that whenever I turn the volume up too loud, it cuts out. I checked all wires and connections. There is nothing wrong with my amp or ground connection. So I assume one of the voice coils went out. Is there anyway I can wire it so it only uses the Voice coil that isnt blown, so itd only be running off one voice coil this way and wouldnt cut out at high volumes?
the amp does not go into protection. It stays on just like normal. Sub is wired up to 4 ohms. Its a New KICKER 750.1 MONO class D amp. No problems with the amp at all.
also there is a capacitor so low voltage isnt the issue either.
that is not your problem. the only way a voice coil 'cuts out' is if it burnt in two. it will only do this one time. after that it doesn't work anymore.
sounds like your amplifier is going into protection at full for some reason. most likely either you have the subwoofer wired to too low of ohm load for the amplifier or due to low battery voltage.
