Dump Can Probe

Dump Can Probe
can someone with ford probe experience help me with this one???

I have a 1995 Ford Probe. The car (for the most part) is a good running vehicle (power mirrors, door locks, windows, cruise) with decent gas mileage and few REAL problems if you watch the maintenance ie. baby the car a bit. The big issue is the automatic transmission is terrible. whether new or used the trannies they all suck. It is implied and expressed that if a transmission cooler is added in the mix than an overheat will solve that problem. what I want to know is will it solve the overheat problem? even on a used tranny fully dumped and refilled( i say this cuz I changed to used tranny 6 months ago and the fluid cooked thru the duration)?

Ya the Probe has issues with overheating tranny's Nice car.

If you get a cooler get one and get it's own fan and add that. this will keep the fluid cool as a cucumber. Place it so it draws air from the outside not the engine compartment. A lot of installers will tell you it is OK to put it in front of the radiator. I would agree except this application needs at least 10" in front of the radiator and get a fan in front that will push air not pull it. This will help air move through the tranny cooler and keep the radiator unobstructed, you don't want to cause cooling problems
