advice on single electric breast pump?
i am planning to breastfeed until I return to work, about 8 weeks after my little girl is born. I am thinking of buying a breast pump for occasional use, if we have company or if my husband wants to feed her. Since I do not plan to use it a whole lot or for long I do not want to spend a bunch of money. I am thinking about getting a single electric pump and pumping while I am feeding. Would a single pump be enough for what I want to use and which brand do u suggest? Also if I pump each time I feed is that okay?
If you don't plan to nurse for long or pump often I'd recommend an Avent Isis manual pump its cheap and works well. I used it whenever I needed to pump for some reason outside of work.
If you decide to try and pump when you go back, I recommend the Medela pump in style advanced, pricey but it really works well.
Good Luck.
ETA-My son is nuts about his daddy and he was breastfed the first year. Seth is a ding dong or trying to stir crap up. Nurse as long as you want, but don't quit out of "respect" for your hubby-men have bonded with babies long before formula.
ETA-and to answer your last question, pumping each time you feed might be a bit much. Pumping is frankly, just boring, the baby is quicker and more efficient and you can do other things. Just pump when you want to have milk for a bottle, or is baby only takes one breast, also moms tend to get engorged in the beginning, you can pump a little to ease the pressure and make it easier for your baby to latch on.
