Radiator Support Easy Come Off...Yes or No??
I have a really good question for all them civic fans & tuners out there... i own 93 civic ex and my radiator support is kinda bang up so i want to replace it.i want to know if the radiator core support is easy to come off and just some bolt on stuff??...i have lights, body kit and fenders off and personal mechanic but i just need to know exactly where are the bolts located cause i cant afford to damage anything else around there engine bay areas.Note**this car will not be visiting any what so ever body shop because this car has alot of money invested into it plus they wouldnt understand how to mess with it in first place.**
The radiator support is NOT bolt on. It is welded in several placed. It takes 7 to 10 hours for a qualified technician to remove and replace it. All of the welds have to be drilled out. The fenders have to be loosened and moved out away from the support. You will of course have to evacuate the AC system with the proper equipment and remove the coolant from the radiator. You will also need to remove the front bumper and headlamps as well as some misc components. These are welded on so you will need a spot welder, grinder, torch etc. You will want to paint the radiator support prior to putting it on the vehicle so you can cover every area. Once you have put it on the vehicle you will have to go back and primer the welded areas and refinish those as well. Then replace all of the components and add coolant and recharge the a/c. Also. If you do NOT line it up correctly your headlamps, fenders and bumper cover will not fit properly.
