Filter Clamp Fuel
What is wrong with my car?

I went to start my car and it would turn over and just wouldnt start, then I smelt gas, and went to try and start it again and then herd fluid spill, so my husband looked under the car and saw a hose loose, he said it was tis one that went in to the fuel filter, so he pushed it on as hard as he could and it started right up. So is it fixed? Is there a clamp that should go arround the conection? What do I do? If anyone could help I would apprecate some advice. thank you so much!! (its a Ford Contour, 2000)

Most American cars don't have hose clamps on fuel line hoses that go into the throttle body or the fuel filter. If your husband put the hose back on it should stay on unless it is worn out, in which case you're better off getting a replacement hose. Using a hose clamp may damage the fittings if you're not careful, so for now just leave it be and if it comes off again look into the price of getting a new segment of fuel line.
