Question regarding the use of Teflon hose with AN fittings?
Hello,
I am trying to convert my transmission cooler lines from regular rubber hose to teflon braided hose (for the look). I just purchased 20 ft. of teflon hose with a few swivel AN fittings. However, I just noticed that there is a difference with the teflon hose and regular rubber braided hoses and it seems that I was suppose to use the aeroquip AN fitting for the Teflon hose. My question is, are all the AN fittings the same? Do I need to find one that are aeroquip compatible? Is there a difference?
The AN fitting refers to an Aerospace standard, while
SAE fittings refer to automtive standards.
They are NOT identical.
These fittings are designed to connect to a mating connection at a common thread within the SAME standard.
Most all of the major hydraulic hose manufacturers ONLY reccomend using their fittings with their matching hose, due to the HAZARDS involved.
You should contact Aeroquip and make sure you are using their fittings designed for that specific hose. They could also tell you if the threads on the AN fittings are compatible with the fittings that come standard in your car.
