My lawn mower wasn't starting so I followed advice on here and completely cleaned and rebuilt the carb with a rebuild kit. The engine started (!!!!) and ran for a good while but then started to run REALLY loud and fast and scared me so I turned it off. I restarted it and the same thing happened again and I noticed that gas was leaking somewhere near the carb bowl or the little fuel intake valve or something. It's impossible to tell where because it was a lot of fuel. All parts of the fuel line have clamps and the fuel line and clamps are brand new.
It sounds like the float in the carburetor is sticking or jamming in the open position. This could be caused by contaminants in the carb or a part was re-installed incorrectly, allowing the float bowl to overfill and gas to pour out of the overflow.
