I have a 93 chevy 1500 Z71 with a 5.7 liter. It runs great when in neutral or park, starts right up and will rev up fine. If I put it in gear it starts to stumble and wants to stall. It stays this way the entire time I drive it, the more gas I give it the worse it gets.
You really need to get it to a diagnostic machine to find out... but you asked for an opinion so.. here goes.
My first inkling would be an O2 sensor, which reads the exhaust gasses and tells the injection system to adjust the fuel air mixture. If that is failing or failed, once you load the engine, the rich (or lean) fuel mixture causes the truck to stumble.
Second Inkling is ignition system. New plugs and wires are always a good thing to get after 60K miles have elapsed on the odometer.
Third inkling would be the ECM (engine control module). This is the truck's engine's brain.
My fourth inkling would be a possible vaccum issue between the transmission and the vaccum system. check the system for loose hoses or holed hoses.
Fifth... fuel flow.. pump or filter.
Again... get to a diagnostic machine so you don't waste money on all the parts I listed above and discover that it still has the same problem
