turbo eclipse 16g upgrade?
i have a 1997 mitsubishi eclipse gst(turbo)
i have the stock turbo in there
pretty much stock everything engine wise except
3 inch apexi n1 catback exhaust and injen intake
so..question is, if i upgrade to the evo3 16g, with no hardcore heavy tuning, is that a good idea?
im tight on money, thats why i wouldnt buy the things to go along with it(front mount, etc.) but eventually, the rest of the add-ons would come.

A 16G is a pretty good turbo for that car.
I've run one, and was very pleased with it.
Here's the problems you're going to run into though.
1. Your intake and exhuast do pretty much nothing for your car. Seriously. I had an Injen intake, and a catback, and my total gain was around 4 horsepower over stock. And only at certain rpm. I actually lost horsepower at the lower levels.
2. It is HIGHLY recommended that you switch to larger injectors and get an air fuel controller, and a boost controller. You can always just swap the turbo in, but I tell you right now, you will see no difference.
Seriously. No difference at all. Your car will see it as a stock turbo, will run stock boost on it, and you will get stock performance.
3. Don't bother with the front mount, anyway. Until you start seeing around 300+ at the wheels (so, with a GST, you need a gain of almost 130 horsepower over stock), the side mount is plenty. You could even switch to a larger sidemount, and be good up to around 350 hp or so.
