I'm building a 300 I-6 and want to put a high volume oil pump from Summit Racing. I can choose from sealed-power or melling pumps. Both of them don't require a hardened driveshaft but I'd like to use one for reliability. The heavy duty melling driveshaft offered from Summit says its not for use with high capacity pumps. Could using this cause a problem, and does anyone know where I could find a high capacity pump driveshaft? Thanks
Mellings drive shaft not for hi volume pumps ??? Wierd. I totally don't understand that. I've got a hi volume standard pressure Mellings in my 351W427, with a Mellings chrome molly drive shaft.... Sure you read that correctly ?? I'd call Summit - It could be a typo.......... And you're right, hi volume standard pressure with the hardened drive shaft.
