I just put on a holley carb, and the gas was percolating. When i put on my heat shield and spacer, i accidentally overtightened the base of the carb and it snapped off right across a vacuum passage. I took one off the same type of carb (12 years old) and swapped all the parts and linkages on the bases. I put it on and it cranked...but now i have a problem when i am braking. The truck seems to sputter almost to the point to where it wants to turn off as i am stopping...but it doesn't. As far as i can tell, the bases were the same. Should i just order a brand new base or is there another problem?
As long as what you have is getting you around, use it but do order another part from the manufacturer. You should be able to contact them via the internet and they will be happy to get the part to you.
