carburetor recommendations?
I am building a ford 302 the bottom end will be stock the top end will have gt40 x heads, summit racing stage 2 intake, holley 8 pound110 gph fuel pump, summit racing ignition box that is the same as a msd 6al, and a nos sniper system that will be set at a 100 shot. I am looking for a good power range
from 2000 to 5000 RPM'S I am looking at the holley 650 to 750 CFM range do you think that will be good with this set up.

This is going in a 1985 Mustang the rear end is geared 3.73
forgot to let you know the motor is a 1995 so it does have forged pistons

302 cubic inches at 5000 RPM is divided by two because it is a four stroke engine multiplied by the volumetric efficiency expected at this RPM based on head, valve, camshaft design roughly 85-95 percent on a good day, then divide by the 1728 cubic inches in a cubic foot.
302 x 5000 x 1/2 x .85-.95 x 1/1728 = CFM
This yields 437-488 CFM, which would be the recommended carburetor size for excellent performance in the range you are wanting. Of course, if you want to tach it up to 7000 RPM, you might want the 650. The most common mistake is to put a carburetor on that is too big and offers only a performance increase if you KEEP the engine at high 7000+ RPM. But if you want rapid throttle response and good torque at lower speeds, stick to the smaller number. 500 is better.
You will hear all kinds of recommendations of large carburetors, but don't trust them or me, try them out, buy them both, a 500 and a 750 and prove to yourself which is better.
