ddoes anyone know why my stereo stays on when the ignition is off?
I have a 91 eclipse gst with a kenwood deck. My radio will not turn off when I remove the key from the ignition, I have to manually turn the stereo off or it will drain my battery. I hooked all the cables up correctly and double checked. The radio that was in the car before did the same thing. I checked all the fuses. Could this deal with something in the ignition harness it self. If some has any ideas please help me out from spending money on something that I can fix myself.

first off, did you use a wiring harness for your car to connect the new stereo? they are sold for every car out there, and makes the installation job very easy and shouldnt cost more than 10 bucks.
they have a big plug with color-coded wires that will match to the same exact wires in the back of ANY stereo. after you plug every wire, just pop the plug into the original connector for your car stereo and everything will work fine.
but if you installed the stereo buy cuting the original wires inside the car... then most likely u did something wrong.
if you are shure everything is installed correctly, then something is wrong with your cars' ACC cable that is routed to the stereo harness.
an easy way to fix this is by running a wire from the ACC fuse in the "fuse box" and connect it to the ACC cable in your stereo. make sure to add a small fuse to the cable you are running to protect things incase the cable touches a ground source.
the main use of the ACC is to provide positive power when the key is turned to the ACC *if your car has it* or when the car engine is on. with this, your stereo will turn on. but if the key is removed, the ACC will not have power and your stereo will turn off.
this should fix your problem, unless you messed the stereo installation lol.
