1963 Chevy Impala Brake Issues!?
So i did the brake conversion from front drums to disc. I got the conversion kit, which included the booster, dual master cylinder, brakes, calipers, rotors, spindles, spindle brackets, lines hardware. So i got it all hooked up but cant seem to get pressure in the lines, unless i pump the brake which is minimal pressure. ALL brake lines are new so theres no leak, drums and rear brakes are all new also. All lines bled. Theres two spots on the dual master cylinder for the brake lines, does it matter on which front or rear lines connect to on the master cylinder. also THE ONE THING THE KIT DIDNT COME WITH IS A PROPORTIONING VALVE, could that be the prob? Educated answers preferred over guesses, thanks alot!
Not having a proportion valve is a problem, there should be the original one mounted to the frame under the driver side just below the firewall. There should also be a check valve and vacuum supply hose going to the booster from the intake manifold. I take it you bench bleed the master cylinder before installing it on the car. The master cylinder should have a big and small chamber. The big chamber is for the front disc brakes and should be closest to the booster and the small chamber is for the rear brakes. This is because the brake caliper requires more fluid then the rear wheel cylinders.
Hope this helps. Christopher
