I have a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo that i am going to put speed force racing intercooler pipes and a bov on. In the kit i can get several different bov's however i am trying to decide between the HKS Super Sequential bov and the Greddy Type-s bov. Can anybody tell me which of these will give me a slightly louder and more traditional bov sound and also if one will perform better? I also heard that the super sequential bov responds quicker since the Greddy is a push-type. Can anybody confirl this? I dont know if if is relevent but if it is i currently put out about 15 pis of boost.
The stock bypass valve can handle 15 PSI just fine. In fact, I know people who run 18 PSI with the stock bypass valve. Frankly, a BOV is a bad idea for most 944 setups because the AFM (and even the MAF sensor on cars with the conversion) is located upstream from the valve. If the vented air is not recirculated, the engine experiences a transient rich condition that fouls spark plugs and contaminates catalytic converters.
A BOV does not offer any performance advantage over the stock bypass valve; all it does is make more noise and cause issues with the mixture.
If you really want a more durable setup, look into Lindsey Racing's billet bypass valve:
It's a bolt-in replacement for stock and won't cause the mixture problems that a BOV will. You won't get the noise, but the car will run better.
