I am looking for an engine to make a racing go kart and i neeed to know which one is faster. Between those two choices.
Both are the same displacement, 206 CC. The Raptor has been out of production for 11 years. The Animal is newer technology and in theory should out perform the Raptor.
The Raptor is the old flat head design. The intake and exhaust valves are located in the engine block. The animal is a more modern overhead valve design. The valves are located inside the cylinder head above the piston.
An overhead valve design flows air much better than a flat head. Also a flat head is limited to how high the compression ratio can be.
The old Raptor design has a 6.5:1 compression ratio. The more modern Animal has an 8.5:1 compression ratio.
The carburetor used in the Animal is capable of running on alcohol if your local rule book permits.
