My 2004 Honda Pilot remote keyless entry quit working and we replaced the battery and tried to program it, but it still doesn't work. I'm wondering if it is the transmitter itself, as the red led light doesn't light up when a "Lock" or "Unlock" button is pushed, but it does on my wife's. Should the red led indicator light up when a lock button is pushed even when it isn't programmed? It may be another bad battery, and I'm afraid that if I test my other battery in this transmitter then neither one will end up working.
Yes - the remote has no way of knowing if there is a vehicle (or two) programmed for it. It just spits out its code for all the area to hear.
I think your remote is dead. You can get a replacement for $50 plus about $10 S&H from the first source. If your model is an LX you may be interested in the used one fro $25. Programming instructions are included with either. I have bought from them a few times and always been satisfied.
