I want to be a pilot...?
It is my life long dream to be a pilot im in the process of getting my private pilots license i have talked to my parents about what i want to do as career i know i want to be a pilot but i just don't know what i want to do as a pilot i don't really want to be in the air force but it could be a last resort and i defiantly don't want to be a Commercial pilot and working for fed ex could be a possible career if this world was a perfect place i would just by my own plane but unfortunately its not and im not rich i have also thought about being a bush/tour pilot does anybody have any more suggestions for a flying career?
If you want to be a pilot and "just own your own plane" then I would definitely suggest you pursue a different career. There are plenty of careers out there that would enable you to make a great living at with a salary large enough for aircraft ownership.
First off you seem to be a bit confused; a commercial pilot isn't a certain job title. A commercial pilot is a pilot who is paid for the flying they do. You will need a commercial pilots license as well as other ratings and licenses, depending on the job you do, to be paid to fly.
A commercial pilot may fly cargo for a freight company like Fedex or UPS - and not all freight is hauled in large jets. There are plenty of small companies that feed freight from smaller airfields to the large processing warehouses at larger airports in smaller aircraft.
A commercial pilot may also work for a news agency covering traffic, sports events and other news worthy events.
Another option is law enforcment. Aircraft monitor traffic, aerial survelence, even special operations.
There is aerial survey for surveying companies, or mapping.
Flying for government agencies like the Parks and Forrestry doing animal tracking, counts, aerial pesticide/herbicide application.
Working for private companies and farms doing pesticide and herbicide application, otherwise know as crop dusting.
Then there is also the corproate side of aviation - flying a company's managers, officers, business people to and from meetings, etc.
As you can see there are plenty of things to do, other than flying just point A to point B over and over; day in, day out. The most important thing though is that you love flying.
