what does it mean when you slip the clutch?
I was watching a dvd about Mustangs last night. They were testing an '06 and the driver managed to run in the mid 13's. He said he was lauching at 5000 and slipping the clutch a little bit. What did he mean by saying he was "slipping the clutch"?
Also, I was out crusing one time and I got a light with a guy in a firebird and he said he didn't want to race cuz his clutch was slipping. Is this the same thing as the above statement?
Two different things. In the Mustang 'sliiping the clutch' mean he was not releasing the clutch all the way when taking off. This is hard on a clutch but it multiplies the torque. In the Firebird he said his clutch was slipping because it was worn out. When a clutch is worn out it starts slipping. Just as if you had pressed the clutch pedal a little. If you keep driving eventually the car won't move even when it's in gear.
