What would be the most innocent way to tell my boss that I have to do 15 days of cal trans work?
This may seem like a weird question, but i was arrested for a dumb reason a few months ago. The crime wasn't that bad, but its not something i want to tell my work. The case is finally over now, and i have all charges dropped against me, but have to do 15 days of cal trans work on the weekdays. Which means i have to take 3 weeks off my full time job within a span of 3 months (roughly 1 day a week off).
Does anybody know a more innocent excuse to tell my boss i have to do the work? maybe something like a paper flew out of my car on the highway on accident, and i got a ticket, etc. (my friend thought of that one, but i don't think it adds up too well). any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
You can either dip into your vacation time or just be up front about the mess. I suggest taking as much vacation time as possible to fulfill your Cal Trans requirements.
If you decide to go with the honesty route, try to make up the work you miss by going in on Saturdays to complete it. Start going in on Saturdays the week before you begin Cal Trans work, that way you are ahead of it and can gain some sympathy from your employer.
