what engine oil can i use when running methanol fuel in a 4 stroke?
as methanol will sit on top of most oils what oil can i use when running methanol so i don't have a explosion in the bottom end
Definitely a full synthetic. We raced an 1,127cc GSXR in a mini-sprint on methanol a few years ago and used Royal Purple 21 Racing oil. The oil was so superior to everything else at the time that we'd drain it, let it set in an open pan to evaporate the fuel then used the oil again with no oil degradation. As I remember, at least for a while, most of the top Harley drag tuners like Don Tilley were pretty fond of Royal Purple. Could be someone caught up with them, but for a while R.P. engineers were in a league of their own.
