I need to make a hose connection to a faucet that I do not have in front of me. The faucet spec calls out as a 1/2" IPS connection. I have no clue what that is. I called their tech support and there was a language barrier (yes...its English units and there is a language barrier). I asked if this was a pipe thread? Straight Thread? All he could tell me was "Its 1/2" port"...
Should be standard 1/2" pipe threads. I'm pretty sure IPS is short for "Iron Pipe Size." Any half inch plumbing threads you'd find at Lowe's or Home Depot (If you're in the US) should match. I believe the 1/2 refers to ID, so the outside is somewat larger, closer to 3/4". Also fairly sure it is not a bolt size.
Not sure what kind of hose you're connecting, but I Don't think garden hose is 1/2" IPS threads. Try this:
