I recently got a '05 mustang gt and I want to mod it, I was wondering if a throttle body spacer is worth?
the money?
These are the mods I want to buy:
1) Steeda Complete Cold Air Intake Kit and SCT SF3 Custom Tuner Combo
2) BBK Twin 62mm Throttle Body
3) Steeda Mustang Underdrive Pulley System
4) Mustang SLP Loudmouth Axle-Back Exhaust
What do you think?
I don't want a supercharger, nothing too major
Just want it louder and a little more powerful is all
also unrelated sorta... when should I change the fuel filter?, my car has 27k miles on it so far
Going with a CAI/Tuner combo would be a great first mod for the BBK 62mm throttle body would be far-less efficient running on your stock airbox. I got my CAI/SCT Tuner along with a Brenspeed 93 octane performance tune and it was a night and day difference , the tune also advances your timing. As far as the axle-back , the SLP is a good system ,great for those who want to be obnoxiously loud and get that 60's muscle car sound ,SLP Loudmouth will gain some HP.I prefer the maganflow only because of the back pressure that canister type mufflers give that N/A motors need, but it is not as loud. Both brands will gain HP eventhough. Doing a axleback upgrade would go great with a header and Off-Road downpipe package. I personally prefer the x pipe . Brenspeed informed me that the only difference between the x or h pipe is the sound note and not a hp difference. The Throttle body spacer is to me is probably a "placebo effect" but im not gonna cry over 30-50 bucks , i spend that in one day going on a date. But if it gains 1hp im satisfied if i didnt then oh well 30 bucks down the drain. Just make sure you get a 62mm spacer so it integrates with your bbk throttlebody and its not sized for the stock one. When I Did my pulley upgrade I felt a good difference on my car and faster engine revs , so overall it was worth it. Eventually i will be running the C&L intake manifold and steeda delete plate and cams so that'll go great with my MAC CAI/ BBK TB/MMR TB spacer. BTW i would look into the meizere electric water pump as well if you want basic mods and it doesnt affect daily driving at all.But with the mods you have listed thatll be good for about 50whp so it is definitely a good upgrade over stock
