I have recently purchased a 347 stroker engine, which is going to replace a 200 cid 6..I have worked out most of the details, but i need to know if I need to run a Brake booster. see the thing is The car did not have one when purchased, and with the Dart race block Windsor with the taller heads and the distence between the fire wall and shock tower I think its going to be a clearence problem...oh yea the Master iam using is a SSBC dual bowl..and I do have the proportioning Valve..
Whay i meant to say is do i have to use a booster with the 4 wheel brake setup I have ..I know you must use a booster for power brakes BUT will the manual brakes be enough to stop a car with around 480 h.p...
this was built on the 302 platform, the issue iam worried about is not from head to shock tower it is the fact that the heads are not going to leave enough room on the firewall for the size of the booster....
a 347 as far as i have understood was built on the lower deck 302 type engine. so there should be no real clearance issues. and the dart heads i bought (for my chevy) were identical to the stockers as far as external sizes. did you buy a 351w type block? if so how did they arive at 347cid? i am confused on this one as it doesnt follow the typical ford engine specifics.
351w will clear the shock towers no probs...
edit...heads are located by the head bolts....cant change that. you'll have the same clearance as with stock heads. unsure if your SSBC stuff is larger in diameter than the stocker. have you compared that yet?
