Hello I would like to know what the physical difference is between camshafts. I’m not asking what is better for top end racing and what is better for just having fun, I want to know if I had three cam shafts, Solid, Hydraulic, and Roller, all having the same specs, how can I tell from measuring the cams which is which? I am asking this because I know if I put a roller lifter on a cast iron cam, the cam will not operate as well not to mention that it will be grounded up by the roller on the lifter. And I know the same affects will happen from putting solid lifters on a hydraulic cam, I also know what I can do is put hydraulic tappets on a solid cam to give my engine a faster ramp. I want to know if I take the three cams and mix them up, how can I tell one from the others? Thanks folks, Shawn J
