how to make belt on my camaro stop squealing?
so far i have replaced the belt, tensioner pulley, water pump, i filled the power stearing fluid also. it has been squealing since my buddy sprayed it with belt conditioner. the squeal will go away for a hour or two when i touch a bar of soap to the ribbed side of the belt. im stumped and sick of spending money trying to find the problem.
Did you make sure you didn't over fill the p.s fluid? Did you check the idler pulley. A loose belt or a tight one will also cause a squeal. It's not advised to use belt dressing on a serpentine type belt. Are your pulleys lined up right? Maybe the tensioner it self needs replaced not just the pulley. After time the tensioner looses tension and just replacing the pulley isn't enough.
