car building?
these are the rules for the factory stock division at my local track (dixie motor speedway), if i was to use plumbing pipe would that meet all the rules for the cage as long as it's thick enough?
Roll Cage
4 point roll cage is mandatory. 1 3/4“ OD min, .095” wall min.
Minimum of 3 doors bars required.
1/8” steel doorplate, 24”x 24” min on driver’s side and 12”x 18”kick plate to protect driver’s legs mandatory.
Front and rear hoop suggested.
Roll bars must be padded around driver’s area.
1/8” – 18” x 36” steel floor plate under driver is highly recommended.
Don't use plumbing pipe. Galvanized pipe is the only thing in the plumbing world that would work but it would make one heavy roll cage. Take those specs to a welding shop and ask where you could get some pipe such as that. They may have what you need in stock. They will at least know where you can get it.
Plus that welding shop will probably have experience in building roll cages. Ask them about the process.
