What are some easy things that I can do to improve my dribbling?
What are some easy drills or things that I can do to improve my dribbling? One of the things that I have trouble with is when I dribble I try to dribble on my finger tips but somehow the ball rolls over to my palm. Does anyone have any tips or drills that I can do to help stop this? Also, If I work hard enough, when do you think I will start to see improvements?
Dribbling looks like it takes finesse, but each time you dribble you need to push the ball into the ground hard so it comes back up to your hands quickly. You don't want the ball on just the finger tips, contact with all fingers including the thumb is best centered in the hand. Time, that depends, the more time you have to practice the faster you will improve. Drills;
Spread you legs and dribble in a figure 8 pattern using your left hand on the left side, right hand on the right going around your legs. Don't look at the ball ever when you practice. It sucks at first but once you get the hang of it it is worth it.
Dribble two balls at once. Bounce them at the same time. Then alternate dribbles.
Practicing dribbling is not the best part of playing basketball. But if you cant control the ball, you cant score.
If you jog, dribble while you jog with your weak hand the whole time.
Stand facing a wall so your hand is a foot or two away when you arm is extended out in front of you. Dribble against the wall trying to keep
the ball at the same ht. This will make you a strong dribbler.
Also some good drills on you tube.
Good Luck.
