Sbc Serpentine Crankshaft

Belt to Serpentine Conversion SBC Chevy 350 1979 4x4?

What all pulleys and tensioners will I need to convert my belt drive sbc 350 to serpentine? I've got a 79 4x4...NO A/C, just alternator, crankshaft, water pump, and power steering. What setup will I need. Can I take an old chevy van set of pulleys? I need a few hints before I go to a junk yard and get the wrong things

I have used serp set-ups from both a caprice(91-95) and camaro(87-92), as well as 88+ chevy trucks in the older GM trucks. However, I've always used an AC compressor. I believe there is an AC delete pulley available though.

A set-up from a van should work fine.

There was a non AC serp set-up on the 88+ trucks, but it used a narrow belt and finding a non AC truck may be difficult.

Be sure you use a water pump for a serpentine vehicle, because they spin the opposite direction of v-belts!!!

The serp pulley will bolt on your alternator, or you can use the newer alternator and replace the pigtail.
Get the water pump pulley, crank pulley, and all the brackets AND BOLTS. The idler and tensioner will be bolted to the brackets.
