My heat won"t come on all the time?
I have two units with separate t-stats. One unit stopped following the program one night and we had to turn it off (at t-stat) before it would follow the program. Happened again at the same time the next night. Then it happened 12 hours later. So I replaced the Honeywell programmable with a new one and did not touch the wires -console slipped onto mounting bracket. At night no problems, but in the morning it doesn't work. So, I turned it off and then back on again. This only happens once or twice a day (about 12 hrs apart).
The concern was the programmable t-stat was somehow not sending the message to turn on and I did not see a reason to change wiring as the unit hasn't had any issues with heat or a/c for years. So the problem hasn't gone away and I don't think I need this new t-stat.
With the new t-stat did you "set it up" or "configure" it properly; that is, tell it what type of system you have ie,...Gas, Electric, or Heat pump. When you programmed the t-stat did you "copy-over to " all other relevant days and times? What about the cycles per hour setting I use 4. Also make sure all the thermostat wires on the sub-base are tight beneath the set screws. One last reach here- be sure the air filter is clean as well as the indoor coil. I say this, because perhaps, the unit is cycling off on an (automatic-reset) high temperature limit switch during it's longest run period; such that occurs between the "temperature set back" - sleeping hours and your "recovery warm-up" or "wake" period- As this may cancel out the morning program operation. lastly, also be sure there are not too many supply grills or dampers closed. Keep as many open as possible.
Oh, one last thing, depending on the model of your Honeywell thermostat it may have a feature known as ADAPTIVE INTELLIGENT RECOVERY, use this MODE instead of CONVENTIONAL RECOVERY! That way, when you program the T-stat say for 5 am heat setting of 68 degrees the house will be at that temperature when you step out of bed as opposed to CONVENTIONAL mode, where the T-STAT heat set point of 68 "STARTS" at 5 am.
