I'm looking for some type of loop that can support a decent amount of pull pressure.
What I need it for is the ends of my kayak. I need two rings or really strong cable or fasteners something to replace the carry handles so I can safely strap it to the roof of my truck without it flying off on a highway and turning me into a murderer.
The holes in the kayak are slightly smaller than a pencil in diameter and this ring/loop thing has to be around two to four inches in diameter, doesn't really matter though as long as it doesnt come lose.
I was maybe thinking of a heavy gauge steel key chain, but too much pulling force could possibly bend it and come loose. A decent weld in the right spot could fix that but I don't know any welders.
I don't know. Somebody please help if you have any ideas.
You should not secure a kayak to your roof by tying down the ends. A simple inexpensive alternative is for your to purchase a set of kayak foam blocks and tie down straps. These items typically come in kits and can be purchased for around $50. This will allow you to secure the kayak from the center of the boat (the strongest part of the boat). You can at this point use bow and stern lines to prevent the kayak from any twisting.
