Why are a lot of street or tuner cars front wheel drive?
Neon SRT 4, Cobalt SS.. a lot of street cars are FWD. Wouldn't it be better to be RWD or AWD? When im 17 I would love to get an STI but, insurance and price would be tough.. so I would probably have to settle for something like the 2008 cobalt SS. But I don't completely love the drivechain lol
Tooner cars are always front wheel drive because the whole tooner movement is based around cheap economy cars designed to be as slow as humanly possible to get the best fuel economy possible. Ricing them out just makes for a mediocre performance car and ruins the fuel economy of the car, which is what it was designed for. However, the primary reason the tooner cars are front wheel drive, is front wheel drive is the cheapest to manufacture, this is why cars like the Neon, Cobalt, Focus, Civic, Sentra, etc. are all front wheel drive. Reality is, you could get a WRX for cheaper than a cobalt SS, and probably lower insurance as well. Surprisingly, the SS badge on any car makes the insurance go way up. Either way, the import performance fad is dying anyways.
