title pretty much says it all. im thinking of buying a wrx and taking turbo out while im still on p's, not allowed to have turbo, or buy an RX and put a turbo on it when im off P/s. thankyou
Your motor is not good to turbocharge. Can you swap out the whole engine and ECU into your car and keep it legit? That would be the best way to go. Adding a turbo to your engine will make it a ticking time bomb unless you push so little boost that it will not even be worth it. I don't know about your heads but here in the US, the N/A models had some weak aluminum heads and you have pretty high compression pistons which are not ideal for boost. Don't know your laws but if you absolutely have to keep your engine, Along with the turbo you will also need the exhaust, inter cooler, injectors and possibly the fuel pump. You will also need to have it re tuned and I don't think you can use your ECU so you will need some kind of engine management. And if you want more than 20hp, I really would look to stronger pistons. I realize it's a lot but that's just the decision you will have to make. It might be cheaper to do what you have to to be able to drive a WRX instead.
After reading what you asked, I realized there was another part to your question. And the answer is no you can't just remove the turbo from a WRX and drive it as is. You will have to do pretty much the oppsite of what I wrote above. I see your dilemma though. I guess if I was you, I would just buy the cheapest car you can find for now and buy a WRX when your license allows.
