What are the obvious factory defects of a 78' CJ7 w/304-3-spd and hardtop w/full-steel doors?
The body-bucket has multiple rust-throughs but the frame seems solid. The drive-train seems o.k. from the appearence of it and every thing turns freely. The owner says it was used to cross flooded creeks with water over the hood at rare times. It's all stock other than taller rims and tires. He's selling 'cause the engine wire-loom melted into a pool of blackness. It is promised to run strong and tight but-beyond checking the obvious things like compression,brakes and clutch-; What should I be especially looking at?
id say its pretty safe since there is no computer to get ruined from the water when i bought mine the wire harness was like a rats nest and some wires were melted so i went on to eBay and bought a wiring harness for 189 and it works very well but i would go for it they are starting to get rare and those 304 are awesome engines. i drive mine hard and i would say 10mpg city and have yet to have it on the highway but its good for picking up chicks haha
