Due to our particular technical specifications, stainless steel materials have to be 316 grade. We have tested the first part of the material that supplied from manufacturer and we have confirmed 316 grade. However we trusted the manufacturer and also because of the tight schedule we didn’t test the other supplied materials. Manufacturing and erection of pipes have been finished. Before partial acceptance we have tested again and we have seen that untested materials were 306 grade. It is impossible to change into 316 grade because time is over and construction was finished. Although 306 grade will not cause any problem, particular specification requirement is 316 grade. How can we get out of during test procedure? I kindly request your helps, if you know a way to pass Molybdenum Spot Test or another drop test, although we know it is not ethical.
If you know it's not ethical, why are you trying to get away with it? By attempting to cover it up, you're opening yourself up to all sorts of legal action. If it's discovered your career will probably be over. Do you want to risk that?
I suggest you tell your customers the truth about the mix-up. Then, consult a lawyer and find out what, if any, legal action can be taken against your manufacturer. It sounds like they may have deliberately tried to skimp on material costs.
Note: The main difference is that 306 is more susceptible to some specific types of corrosion, particularly pitting and/or crevice corrosion in caustic or chloride-rich environments.
