I was told that I needed to provide my own tools for my job. So I bought a toolbox and a lot of tools. When my mother passed away a couple months ago, I went home to take care of that. When I returned, I stayed home for a bit. I also worked on the bosses race car in my off time. I went in and worked on it one night and told him I wanted to return to work. I was under the impression that I would come back the next morning, so I left some of my tools out. I have no car, so he always picked me up in the mornings and gave me a ride to work. The next morning, he didn't come, he didn't call, nothing. I was pretty upset, and went and found another job. When I returned to the shop to get my toolbox, all the stuff that I had left near the race car was gone, and he didn't make any effort to find them or explain what happened. I'm missing around 500 dollars worth of tools. What are my legal options in this case? If I take the to small claims, will I win?

What made you think that your tools would be secure? Did your boss tell you to leave them there overnight?
