I been doing a little research on swapping the motor on my car, and in the Nissan service manual it says to remove the transmission. What if i just remove the torque converter bolts and move all the harnesses out of the way? also what is the easiest way to remove the upper bell housing bolts on the transmission? and can i just remove the one bolt connected to each motor mount or do i need to remove the 3 connected to the motor, thanks!
Two schools of thought drop the entire motor and trans out the bottom or remove the trans then the motor out the top. Non Turbo cars are much easier. top bell housing bolts are removed with a 3 foot long 1/2 drive extension with 3/8 square on the working end. Available from tool trucks. Once the trans mount is unbolted the motor will lean back and you will be able to see the top belhousing bolts Good luck I hope you really like hard work. Any wiring harness issues should be tackled while the motor is out.
